First draft was dated 9/5/07. Looks like we start shooting this July. Took nearly three years, but we’re finally gonna roll on RED.
Movie news — in 140 characters!
So it looks like Smith is wasting no time between the release of Cop Out and the start of production for Red State. As Smith stated, this is a project he’s been working on for a long time. It’s supposedly a slasher film, but more of a cerebral one than an all-out gore fest. It’ll follow the exploits of a maniacal preacher, in the vein of world-renowned dumbass and bigot, Fred Phelps.
I’m not a big Kevin Smith fan but if he makes a movie that bashes the like of Phelps and his co-horts then I’m totally on board.
I wonder where Jason Lee is going to fit in here…
