Wild Target
Starring: Emily Blunt, Bill Nighy, Rupert Grint, Rupert Everett, and Martin Freeman
Director: Johnathan Lynn
Release Date: June 18, 2010 (UK), US Release Date Pending

In “Wild Target”, Emily Blunt, who forever won my heart in “The Devil Wears Prada” with her stunning good looks and comedic timing, plays Rose, a con artist who gets herself in a whole lot of trouble after conning a mobster (Everett). When a hitman on the verge of retirement (Bill Nighy) is hired to get rid of her, he has a sudden change of heart and begins to fall for her. Also, Rupert Grint gets hit by a mini cooper and becomes the hitman’s apprentice, while another group of assassins, lead by Freeman, tracks them all the while. Hijinks, bullets, Emily Blunt generally looking stunning and clever quips are sure to ensue.

While this story isn’t entirely original, director Johnathan Lynn has directed a quite a few successful films based on silly premises before, including “The Whole Nine Yards” and “My Cousin Vinny” and one of my all time favorite comedies, “Clue”, this should be a fun ride, even if it never gets a theatrical run in the US.

Don’t worry though, it’ll be remade in three years and be urbanized. Hopefully you can rent it before then.
