ATTN Tim League, please stop adding so much great shit to this year’s festival, its 23 days away and I can hardly stand the anticipation. I know that you can’t tell because this is the internet but the first half of that sentence was laced with sarcasm, the other half is painfully true.
It was announced today that Yuen Woo-Ping, the legendary martial arts choreographer, will be receiving a Lifetime Achievement Award during this year’s festival. In addition to that badass news, they will also be screening his new film TRUE LEGEND as well as the Jackie Chan starring SNAKE IN THE EAGLE’S SHADOW. For those of you that don’t think you are familiar with his work, then you probably don’t know that he is responsible for scenes in KILL BILL, THE MATRIX, DRUNKEN MASTER, and FIST OF LEGEND just to name a few.
TRUE LEGEND is directed by Woo-Ping, stars Vincent Zhao, Zhou Xun, Jay Chou, Michelle Yeoh, Andy On, and Guo Xiaodong, and features one of the final performances from David Carradine who died during post production.
Fantastic Fest takes place in Austin Texas from September 23rd through September 30th. There are still a few passes left so jump over to the site and buy whatever you can, this festival is not one you want to miss.
