If you say Disney/ Pixar, millions of people will show. We debuted the first image from CARS 2 yesterday and now there is a trailer out for the sequel to the 2006 hit. There is action, intrigue and a car with Michael Caine’s voice! What could be better?!
Star racecar Lightning McQueen (Owen Wilson) and the incomparable tow truck Mater (Larry the Cable Guy) take their friendship to exciting new places in CARS 2 when they head overseas to compete in the first-ever World Grand Prix to determine the world’s fastest car. But the road to the championship is filled with plenty of potholes, detours and hilarious surprises when Mater gets caught up in an intriguing adventure of his own: international espionage. Torn between assisting Lightning McQueen in the high-profile race and towing the line in a top-secret spy mission, Mater’s action-packed journey leads him on an explosive chase through the streets of Japan and Europe, trailed by his friends and watched by the whole world. Adding to the fast-paced fun is a colorful new all-car cast that includes secret agents, menacing villains and international racing competitors.
The sequel is directed by John Lasseter and co-directed by Brad Lewis and opens in 3D, 2D and IMAX 3D on June 24. I know a lot of kids who have recently discovered the original on DVD and are extremely excited to see this film. I’m not expecting much from it though, as I didn’t love CARS as much as I have many of the other Pixar films. I also like how Disney has ever so shrewdly put out this trailer during the Christmas toy buying season, thus reminding parents to go buy these future hot commodities for their kids.
