Release date and cover revealed for ALL-STAR SUPERMAN

Simply put, Grant Morrison and Frank Quitely’s All-Star Superman is one of the best comics of the last decade. It’s both ground-breaking while still remaning classic and iconic. Whenever I hear someone bad mouth Superman, I give them my copy of All-Star Superman and watch them get blown away. I can’t remember the last time I loved a comic as much as I loved All-Star Superman.

DC Universe revealed the release date for the direct-to-DVD adaptation of the comic: February 22. Along with the date, we’ve gotten a close-up look at the film’s cover. Take a glimpse at it above, pretty nice huh? The already-released trailer (embedded below) proves the movie will stick close to the comic. Featuring a quality cast (James Denton! Christina Hendricks! Anthony LaPaglia!), the movie is produced by Bruce Timm and directed by Sam Liu (JUSTICE LEAGUE: CRISIS ON TWO EARTHS)

The Blu-Ray will be packed with special features, including commentary, a digital comic and conversations with Grant Morrison. The special features sound great but will the movie be as stupendous as the comic – is it even possible? I sure hope so but it’s got a lot to live up to.
