Look at James Franco above. What is he up to? Writing his Oscar monologue, writing a thesis for school, updating his Twitter feed? No friends, that’s Franco in our first glimpse of RISE OF THE APES, the PLANET OF THE APES prequel directed by Rupert Wyatt.
The movie follows Franco as a young scientist who attempts to find a cure to Alzheimer’s but instead creates a race of super smart apes (led by Andy Serkis in a motion capture suit) who will surely go on to take over the world. Way to go, James!
Weta Digital is creating all the apes via CG, a first for the APES series. I’m not sold on the movie but I’m definitely curious to see what Weta delivers. Those guys never let us down.
RISE OF THE APES also stars tars John Lithgow, Freida Pinto, Tom Felton, Tyler Labine, and Brian Cox. The film opens November 23rd.
