Get ready to start your engines folks! The debut of CARS 2 is just around the corner and June will be here faster than you can say “Lighting McQueen!” That said, Disney has released a second poster for its sure to be summer hit film.
Opening in 3D, 2D and IMAX 3D in theaters on June 24, the sequel is directed by John Lasseter and co-directed by Brad Lewis. It features the voices of Owen Wilson, Larry the Cable Guy, Michael Caine, Emily Mortimer, Jason Isaacs, Joe Mantegna, Peter Jacobson, Thomas Kretschmann, Bonnie Hunt, Cheech Marin and Tony Shalhoub.
In the film, star racecar Lightning McQueen and the incomparable tow truck Mater take their friendship to exciting new places in “Cars 2″ when they head overseas to compete in the first-ever World Grand Prix to determine the world’s fastest car. But the road to the championship is filled with plenty of potholes, detours and hilarious surprises when Mater gets caught up in an intriguing adventure of his own: international espionage. Torn between assisting Lightning McQueen in the high-profile race and towing the line in a top-secret spy mission, Mater’s action-packed journey leads him on an explosive chase through the streets of Japan and Europe, trailed by his friends and watched by the whole world.
I wasn’t too crazy about the first CARS but tons of my friend’s children are bananas about it. I’m eagerly awaiting the sequel though. Everything Pixar does turns to gold and I’m sure this will be no different.
