The trailer for THE HANGOVER: PART II has made its way online to the delight of many Zach Galifianakis (and monkey) fans. I’ve embedded the trailer below but first let me share my thoughts.
I’m going to see THE HANGOVER: PART II. I’ll see it opening weekend, probably opening day. I’m a fan of the original and of the cast. At the same time, this trailer doesn’t do much for me. It feels like it’s reaching for the same jokes, a common problem with comedy sequels (AIRPLANE 2 anyone?). Getting really drunk, forgetting an entire night, losing a member of the bachelor party. I know that the story can only be stretched so far and that some things will have to be similar to the original but this almost feels like a remake rather than a sequel.
That being said, I got a few laughs from this trailer. It should be fun to see the cast get chaotic and overwhelmed in Thailand. Plus, you know, that monkey. I’m just hoping it’s got something original aside from the setting.
I must say that I feel bad for Justin Bartha. That guy never gets in on the fun.
THE HANGOVER: PART II stars Bradley Cooper, Ed Helms, Zach Galifianakis, Justin Bartha, Jeffrey Tambor and Ken Jeong. It opens May 26th.
