Leonardo DiCaprio and Idris Elba co-starring in a film would make me a happy, happy boy. Quentin Tarantino directing said film would make me even happier. If any of these rumors (and I must stress, they are definitely only rumors) are true then my happiness might be granted.
This weekend, many fans speculated that genius British actor Idris Elba was gunning for the lead role in Tarantino’s DJANGO UNCHAINED after he tweeted this:
Having one of the biggest meetings of my professional life today…meeting a very controversial director for a very controversial part. :-/
Let me just state that I love the emoticon, Idris.
As you can guess, the internet went wild guessing who Elba could be meeting with. The actor gave no other clues but many believe he could have been chatting with none other than Tarantino. While QT isn’t seen as controversial, the part of Django sure is. It’s racy enough that Will Smith still hasn’t committed to it. In fact, maybe Smith has passed on the part. Maybe Elba is taking it instead. Again, all complete rumor.
Today brings us more interesting dream-casting. Hollywood insider Jeff Goldsmith took to Twitter with this:
Casting Rumor: Leonardo DiCaprio WILL play villian [sp] Calvin Candie in Tarantino’s Django Unchained! QT wanted him for I.B. & now has him!
It’s no secret that DiCaprio and Tarantino have been wanting to work together. As Goldsmith stated, the actor was pursued for INGLOURIOUS BASTERDS but that part ended up going to Christoph Waltz (who nailed it). Sources say the part of Dr. King Schultz (once again played by Waltz) was originally written with DiCaprio in mind. Could Tarantino be closing in on Leo for the lead villain role instead?
So there you have it, plenty of rumors to keep you guessing and waiting for more. As I said before, this is all conjecture. But take a second to think about how cool it would be to see either (or both) of these fine actors in DJANGO UNCHAINED. Gets your heart racing, doesn’t it?

Idris + Leo = Me happier than a mofo. From this article to GOD's ears.
