Donald Sutherland cast as President Snow in THE HUNGER GAMES

You thought we were all done with HUNGER GAMES casting, didn’t you? Well friends, you were wrong. The casting process will never end for this movie! Never! In fact, it’ll still be happening long after we’re all dead and buried.

At least today’s casting is fairly important. Lionsgate announced via Facebook that Donald Sutherland has been selected to play President Snow in the Gary Ross adaptation of the popular books. Snow is the ruthless leader of Panem, an evil dictator hellbent on complete rule of his citizens. Needless to say, he’s something of a major antagonist.

Many have been wondering when Lionsgate would get to the casting of Snow. He’s an important part and one that deserved an impressive and well-known actor. Though his role isn’t huge in the first book (and presumably the first movie) he becomes a larger presence as the story goes on.

In other HUNGER GAMES news, Billy Ray’s script has been ditched in favor of one written by director Gary Ross and author Suzanne Collins. The Wrap asked Ray for his thoughts about the news. His response? “I don’t have any.” I guess if you don’t have anything nice to say, don’t say anything at all. No fear, both Collins and Ross are accomplished screenwriters.

And that’s it for HUNGER GAMES news. There’s nothing else we could possible report, right? Right?
