I wasn’t sure what to expect with Tomas Alfredson’s adaptation of TINKER, TAILOR, SOLDIER, SPY. I haven’t read the book by John Le Carre so I’m not familiar with the plot. I am familiar with the cast though. Gary Oldman, Colin Firth, Tom Hardy, Mark Strong. Yeah, I’m definitely familiar with them, who isn’t?
The international trailer for the spy film has debuted and it looks very promising, even for a novice like me. The entire plot isn’t revealed in the preview which is a nice change of pace from other modern trailers. Plus, the cast looks even more impressive in motion. And how about that fashion? It’s been far too long since we’ve had a serious, dramatic spy film, I’m on board for this one.
TINKER, TAILOR, SOLDIER, SPY open in the UK on September 16th. We should expect here around the same time.
Trailer and synopsis is below. Thanks to Tyler Foster for the HD link:
It is now beyond doubt that a mole, implanted decades ago by Moscow Centre, has burrowed his way into the highest echelons of British Intelligence. His treachery has already blown some of its most vital operations and its best networks. It is clear that the double agent is one of its own kind. But which one? George Smiley is assigned to identify him. And once identified, the traitor must be destroyed.

this has moved to the top of my list for this fall's releases.
