Trailer: George Lucas’s RED TAILS looks kind of great

RED TAILS is a movie that’s been in development for a long time but kind of fell off my radar. George Lucas, producer of the WWII story, has been talking about it for ages. Now we have a first trailer. Unlike most all of Lucas’s late work, this movie looks really, really good.

The film tells the story of a group of African-American pilots who are thrown into battle by their weary government. As you can guess, the young pilots prove their worth and show courage and strength in the skies.

It’s a story worth telling and the cast is a great assemblage of young actors. And how about the special effects? The whole film looks to be of the time period and the the aerial combat looks amazing.

Shit, who would have thought I’d be more excited for RED TAILS than any of the STAR WARS prequels?

RED TAILS is directed by Anthony Hemingway and stars Terrence Howard, Cuba Gooding Jr., Bryan Cranston and Brandon T. Jackson. It opens January 20, 2012.
