This week, we’ve got prom, a big happy family, and more TV DVDs than you can shake a remote at, so let’s get started!

This Week’s Big Releases

MADEA’S BIG HAPPY FAMILY
Synopsis: Madea has a big family, she has them over for dinner, and slaps everyone. Also, this happens.
Tomatometer Rating: 39%
Special Features: There are special features including “By-reeen” – The Baby Mama From Hell, Ties That Bind, Madea’s Family Tree, Brown Calls Maury.
Deals: Amazon has the blu-ray for $20.49
Buy/Queue/Skip: While I haven’t seen this movie myself, quite a few friends whose opinions I trust say that it’s one of the better films in the Madea series, so it might be worth an experimental QUEUE.

Manny’s Pick

My pick this week is the second season of the much underrated but much loved – by me, at least – of NBC’s Parenthood, which follows the continuing story of the Braverman family. What really impressed me this season, especially toward the end of it, was Mae Whitman’s performance was absolutely phenomenal, as Amber, who tires to put her life together after not getting into any colleges. Frankly, it’s the kind of stuff that Emmys are made for. Catch up on the second season on Hulu.

See you next week!
