The cast for the Wachowski/Tom Tykwer production of CLOUD ATLAS is already quite remarkable. You’ve got Tom Hanks, Hugo Weaving, Susan Sarandon, Halle Berry, Jim Broadbent and more. Not bad huh? Well, it’s getting even more remarkable.
Hugh Grant, who isn’t as ubiquitous as he once was, has hopped on board the sci-fi epic. We don’t know who Grant will play in the adaptation of the David Mitchell’s novel. Then again, we don’t really know who anybody is playing. If rumors are to be believed, many actors are taking several parts in the film, changing race, gender and age throughout the film. It’ll be interesting to say the least.
CLOUD ATLAS will tell the tale of six different storylines all set against different timezones and settings, from the 19th century to the end of the world. The film will be co-written and co-directed by the Wachowskis and Twyker and produced by Tykwer’s X Filme.
Does Hugh Grant’s bumbling personality fit the 19th century, apocalypse and beyond? Well, one thing’s for sure: CLOUD ATLAS is about to get charming!
