Kevin Costner drops out of DJANGO UNCHAINED

Those of you hoping to see Kevin Costner as an evil, ruthless slave trainer will have to go elsewhere.

It appears that Costner has dropped out of Quentin Tarantino’s DJANGO UNCHAINED. Costner was set to play Ace Woody, the man who trains slaves to fight each other for the enjoyment of owner Calvin Candie (Leonardo DiCaprio). Costner’s casting was something of a surprise considering his gentle, everyman appeal that’s done so well by him. But don’t worry, he didn’t leave because of an argument with Tarantino or anything scandalous like that. Costner is exiting the project because of scheduling conflicts.

No fear, DJANGO still has one of the best casts out there. The aforementioned DiCaprio, Jamie Foxx, Samuel L. Jackson and Christoph Waltz all fill out the still-growing cast. Who will take Costner’s place? We’re not sure but it’ll likely be someone great and possibly surprising.

DJANGO UNCHAINED opens Christmas Day, 2012.
