Zap2it is reporting that Maura Tierney will join THE OFFICE as Mrs. Robert California for one episode airing in late November or December. “I’m a big fan of hers” said Executive Producer and cast member Paul Lieberstein (Toby) who may have been eating a Charleston Chew that prevented him from expounding.
Tierney is a seasoned TV vet who appeared as a frequent guest star on RESCUE ME in its final two seasons. Prior to that she starred on ER for a decade as Dr. Abby Lockhart.
From 1995 to 1999 Tierney starred as Lisa Miller alongside Dave Foley, Stephen Root, the late Phil Hartman, and the surprisingly not late Andy Dick on the cult fave, NEWSRADIO, which was one of the better workplace sitcoms of the last 25 years. And you’d better recognize.
She also appeared alongside Jerry Orbach in the legendary (or forgettable and unfortunately titled) DEAD WOMEN WEAR LINGERIE, which is a neat, yet worthless factoid that I implanted in your brain.
Tierney’s spouse on THE OFFICE, Robert California, is played with spooky-Jedi-mastery by James Spader, replacing Steve Carrel who abandoned Hollywood to pursue a career as a Papier-mâché stop motion animator. That was an untrue thing that I just typed.
