What’s Going On?
A lot of us grew up on Star Wars. Luke and Leia, Darth Vader, Yoda, well, everyone in that universe really. Even if you we hate them, we really actually kinda love them. One thing though that fans a collective whole can agree on is that the very creator of this franchise has also ruined it. The fans aren’t going to take it, they want their films back. This documentary examines how much people loved these films and the crazy ways they show it.
Who’s In It?
A lot of different fan interviews. Sadly no actual interview from George himself, not that that was expected or anything. But a lot of other worthy people from the Star Wars fan universe.
If You Like…:
Debate, witty banter, seeing enthusiastic people talk about what they love so passionately. Amazingly enough, you don’t HAVE to be a Star Wars super fan to really appreciate this film. It’s an examination of a culture, and discussions with the people who love that culture.
Special Features:
- Feature Commentary by director Alexandra O. Phillipe, DP Robert Muratore and editor Chad Herschberger: As is often the case with documentaries, the commentary takes the experience a bit further, and that’s true here. Each person offers up their own thoughts on the franchise, and explore the motivations behind the production.
- The People Vs. Star Wars 3D: A quick discussion that captures peoples reaction to the news of a 3D re-release of Star Wars. Try to guess what their reaction will be…
- George Lucas Raped Our Childhood: A music video about how George Lucas, well, you know…
- Interview with Star Wars producer Gary Kurtz: Maybe the best extra on the disk. It’s a 21 minute interview and in it he offers up an honest recount of his friendship with and working side by side with George Lucas. He also talks about what essentially broke up their friendship during the Return of the Jedi.
