THE DARK KNIGHT RISES Might Occupy Wall Street

The Occupy Wall Street movement has become bigger than most imagined it would. The protests, which started in New York, have spread all over the country and the mainstream media is finally taking notice. I won’t get into the politics of the occupation but I think we can all agree that corporations have been getting an unfair advantage in this country while working class families have lost money, houses, healthcare, etc. With 2012 right around the corner, you can bet the Occupy Wall Street protestors will have a lasting effect on America’s political dialogue.

They also might be in a movie.

24 Frames has an anonymous source stating that THE DARK KNIGHT RISES might be shooting scenes at the protests when the production moves to New York starting October 19th. Indeed, TDKR will be filming in the Big Apple for two weeks but no mention has been made of what they’re filming. As expected, Gotham City will be going through some tough times in the film so mass protests could fit in perfectly. While Christopher Nolan wouldn’t change the script to include the occupation, he might use it as background for an already-planned scene. I know the protestors are more interested in bringing economic equality than becoming movie stars but you must admit it would be pretty cool to be on the set of THE DARK KNIGHT RISES.

The source is anonymous so this could be complete bunk. Or it could just be a quick shot at Occupy Wall Street, no Christian Bale, no Tom Hardy, no Anne Hathaway. This movie is so massive that we really don’t know what to expect anymore. However, if you see a group of angry protestors in the film next summer, it’s likely they were real.

We live in a country no longer represented by the people but by the interests of major corporations and the money they use through lobbying to pay off our elected officials. These politicians no longer voice the opinion of the voters who put them in office but instead speak for the special interests which pay them more and more money to turn a blind eye to the destruction of our environment and the extinction of the middle class. Can Batman bring some needed attention to the problems we face?
