When animation studio Laika releases a film, you should pay attention.
The people behind CORALINE have a new movie coming out this summer and it looks like a fun, scary little treat. PARANORMAN tells the story of a small town infested with zombies. Desperately needing help, they call upon “misunderstood local boy” Norman to take care of the problem. You see, Norman can communicate with the dead so this whole zombie problem is right up his alley.
The new teaser for PARANORMAN is wonderful. Short on plot and containing absolutely no dialogue, it gives you one gorgeous shot after another. One of the terrific things about Laika is watching them grow, they truly get better with time. They’re just one of the many reasons I’m proud to be a Portland, Oregon resident.
PARANORMAN is directed by stop-motion guru Chris Butler and Aardman alum Sam Fell. It features the voice talents of Kodi Smit-McPhee, Casey Affleck, John Goodman, Jeff Garlin, Anna Kendrick, Leslie Mann, Christopher Mintz-Plasse. The film opens opens August 17, 2012.
When a small town comes under siege by zombies, who can it call? Only misunderstood local boy Norman, who is able to speak with the dead. In addition to the zombies, he’ll have to take on ghosts, witches and, worst, of all, grown-ups, to save his town from a centuries-old curse. But this young ghoul whisperer may find his paranormal activities pushed to their otherworldly limits.
