Lawrence Bender Not Producing Tarantino’s Latest Film

19 time Academy Award nominee Lawrence Bender is not producing Quentin Tarantino’s new film DJANGO UNCHAINED. Under Bender’s esteemed belt is all of Tarantino’s previous films, including RESEERVOIR DOGS, PULP FICTION, KILL BILL, and INGLOURIOUS BASTERDS. The only film of Tarantino’s he did not produce was DEATH PROOF, which was part of the double feature GRINDHOUSE. The other director in that project, Robert Rodriguez (who directed PLANET TERROR), produced for Tarantino’s film and Tarantino produced for Rodriguez. After the various producing problems that GRINDHOUSE brought Tarantino in 2007, Tarantino went back to Bender for INGLOURIOUS BASTERDS. The film was honored with accolades at Cannes and Christoph Waltz won numerous awards for his role as Hans Landa.

Their partnership has rolled in much acclaim for the films released with Bender as producer. Yet, despite this fact, no one knows, and Bender has not made a statement, as to why he’s not producing Tarantino’s newest film. Despite not producing DJANGO UNCHAINED, bender’s IMDb page already has him listed as producer for KILL BILL: VOLUME 3.

GRINDHOUSE was a box office failure (but a mild critical success), whereas the rest of Tarantino’s films produced by Bender have all been rather successful. Will Tarantino be able to score a hit with Bender not producing? Or will a similar GRINDHOUSE-esuqe fate fall on DJANGO UNCHAINED?
