NBC Pulls COMMUNITY Off Its Midseason Schedule

It may be curtains for Greendale Community College.

NBC released its mid-season line-up today. As expected, The Peacock moved some things around, namely UP ALL NIGHT, WHITNEY and its struggling news magazine ROCK CENTER. Another change the network made? It yanked struggling comedy COMMUNITY from the schedule completely.

COMMUNITY’s Thursday night 8 PM slot will be filled by returning favorite 30 ROCK. No word on when or where the show is headed. Inside sources say that the series is just on the bench for the time being and will make a return. But even when/if it returns later in the season, it seems increasingly certain that the show is nearing its end. That’s a damn shame because COMMUNITY is easily one of the best comedies on TV.

As funny as it is, the show just doesn’t attract viewers, more so this season. There was speculation that this could be the show’s final season but seeing it pulled so early is surprising and very disappointing.

It might return, maybe on a different day at a different time. But, come January 12th, it looks like COMMUNITY is vanishing for the foreseeable future.

Here’s NBC’s brand-new line-up.
