Also Available This Week
Two releases from this year’s LA Film Festival, Another Earth and Cave of Forgotten Dreams are available on blu-ray. You can check out Courtney’s review of both films.
If you want some accented romance, try One Day with Anne Hathaway’s Irish/English adjacent accent.
For some horror comedy, check out Tucker and Dale Vs Evil, with Alan Tudyk.
This Friday The Smurfs and Friends with Benefits will also be released.
Lastly, if you’d like some glitter and glamour before the holidays go into full swing, I’d recommend Kylie Minogue’s Aphrodite Les Folies tour, now available on blu-ray.
Manny’s Pick
My pick this week is CHILLERAMA, an anthology horror comedy film from horror directors Adam Green (HATCHET, FROZEN), Joe Lynch (WRONG TURN 2, the upcoming KNIGHTS OF BADASSDOM), Adam Rifkin (DETROIT ROCK CITY), and Tim Sullivan (2001 MANIACS). It’s very similar to another great horror anthology, TRICK ‘R TREAT and is also reminiscent of things like TALES FROM THE CRYPT or ARE YOU AFRAID OF THE DARK.
CHILLERAMA is an ode to classic midnight movies of the drive-in era with twist. I liked it much more than I was anticipated and I’d definitely recommend it, especially if you’re a fan of horror films from the 50s and 60s or if you’ve taken in a so bad it’s good horror movie at your local repertory theater. Look for my full review of the blu-ray and interview with one of the film’s stars, Sean Paul Lockheart, later this week.
