Helen Mirren in Talks to Play Mrs. Hitchcock

“Here we have a quiet little motel when in fact it has now become known as the scene of the crime!” The immortal words of Alfred Hitchcock, the auteur and Master of Suspense behind over 50 films including NORTH BY NORTHWEST, THE BIRDS, VERTIGO, THE 39 STEPS, REBECCA, and the infamous and iconic PSYCHO live on. 20^th Century Fox’s new project details the making of a murder by Hitchcock himself, with Dame Helen Mirren likely to join the cast of the film ALFRED HITCHCOCK AND THE MAKING OF PSYCHO. The film is an adaptation of the non-fiction book by Stephen Rebello.

Sascha Gervasi, director of AVIL! THE STORY OF ANVIL, will be at the head of the production with Mirren to play Hitchcock’s wife Alma Reville. The film is to center on the backstory of PSYCO as well as center on the relationship between Hitchcock and his wife. The screenplay was written by John McLaughlin, who co-wrote BLACK SWAN. Who is to play the mighty murder maestro? Anthony Hopkins is attached to the role. We’ll see if this high caliber cast can make a perfect murder out of, well, a perfect murder.
