This Week’s Big Releases

FINAL DESTINATION 5
Synopsis: More kids die in gruesome ways! This time it’s all centered around a bridge collapse.
Tomatometer Rating: 60%
Special Features: There are two looks at the visual effects of the film – one of the bridge collapse and one of a plane crash, there’s a “Circle of Death” featurette (that you probably don’t want to watch if you haven’t seen the film yet), and some alternate death scenes.
Deals: Best Buy, Target and Amazon have the blu-ray combo pack for $22.99
Buy/Queue/Skip: This was a return to form for the series, which seemed to take a nosedive after it’s third iteration. QUEUE IT and check out Courtney’s review for more.

APOLLO 18
Synopsis: It’s paranomal activity *IN SPACE*!
Tomatometer Rating: 25%
Special Features: There’s an audio commentary with Director Gonzalo López-Gallego & Editor Patrick Lussier, alternate endings and deleted and alternate scenes.
Deals: Target and Amazon have the blu-ray combo pack for $24.99.
Buy/Queue/Skip: Rewatch Paranomal Activity instead. SKIP IT.

Manny’s Pick

My pick this week is director Andrew Haigh’s WEEKEND, which is available on Netflix Watch Instant this week. It’s a brilliant love story and one of my favorite films of this year. Check out my review here and make sure you get around to seeing it before you make your own top ten list for this year.

See you next week!
