THE DARK KNIGHT RISES: Operation Early Bird Ends With Early Screenings of the Prologue

The countdown has ended, the wait is over, all has been revealed.

THE DARK KNIGHT RISES viral campaign is over…for now. The ticking clock that popped up online yesterday finally reached zero and has revealed a map with many IMAX locations across America and the UK. You know what that means? As they did with THE DARK KNIGHT, Warner Bros is giving average movie goers a chance to catch the six minute DARK KNIGHT RISES prologue on the big, big screen days before it’ll appear before select IMAX screenings of MISSION: IMPOSSIBLE – GHOST PROTOCOL. The segment was screened for press last night and the response has been very, very positive. Many say that it looks like Christopher Nolan has surpassed the scope of THE DARK KNIGHT, a feat many thought was impossible.

The countdown ended this morning and the main site for the film became an audio file that was reading off coordinates. These numbers revealed more theaters. Sadly, the site was overwhelmed with traffic and many people left frustrated and ticket-less. I’m not sure how many seats are still available for the Tuesday, Decemember 13th screening (10 PM) but you can try your luck here.

While some were upset that a new poster or trailer weren’t revealed, you can rest assured there will be many more of these little games. If THE DARK KNIGHT is any indication, WB will have people running all over the US looking for clues, taking pictures and scouring the net in hopes of something - anything! – from the film.

So, did you get in? Will you be seeing the prologue this Tuesday? Will you wait until MISSION: IMPOSSIBLE hits IMAX screens? Or will you just wait until this July?
