Adapting THE STAND seems like it would be a daunting task, perhaps too big for any one writer. But that won’t stop David Kajganich from trying. Vulture says the writer has been picked by director Ben Affleck to draft an adaptation of Stephen King’s massive apocalyptic tale. Kajganich’s resumé doesn’t inspire much confidence (his only credits are BLOOD CREEK and the god awful Nicole Kidman/Daniel Craig vehicle THE INVASION) but apparently he impressed the brass at Warner Bros with his script for IT, another beloved King tale. Rumor has it that THE STAND will be several movies so Kajganich has his work cut out for him.
Maybe we’ll get an official announcement from WB regarding THE STAND soon. It would be nice to hear some definite plans from those in charge. Now that we have the writer and director squared away, we can get to the important task of casting this damn thing.
For those who are curious, here is Very Aware’s dream cast for THE STAND.
