Bitches, Leave! Nick Schenk To Write ROBOCOP Reboot

I couldn’t resist quoting Clarence Boddicker (Kurtwood Smith) for this story as it’s one of my favorite lines from the director Paul Verhoeven’s 1987 original. According to The Hollywood Reporter, MGM has hired screenwriter Nick Schenk (GRAN TORINO) to work on the ROBOCOP screenplay. Jose Padilha (ELITE SQUAD: THE ENEMY WITHIN) is attached to direct the action sci-fi reboot.

Schenk also has the original drama THE JUDGE set up at Warner Bros. with Team Downey producing. Who else hopes that film will be about Judge Reinhold?! Ok, maybe I’m alone on that one.  MGM has been developing a new take on the ROBOCOP franchise  for years. The studio is hoping for a summer start, but no one has yet been cast in the title role. However, we’ve heard uber-hottie Michael Fassbender was rumored to be a name that’s on the short list and it’s a role he said he’d be quite comfortable playing when we spoke with him last November.

So, what say you dear readers? Are you looking forward to a ROBOCOP reboot or should they leave the classic alone?
