Trailer: Wes Anderson Returns with MOONRISE KINGDOM

Wes Anderson is back with another live-action film, this time bringing us the story of a young couple who run away together while their bizarre, eccentric families try and track them down. The first trailer for MOONRISE KINGDOM showcases Anderson’s typical style and characters. Simply put, it looks awesome.

The cast is predictably stellar, consisting of Bruce Willis, Edward Norton, Bill Murray, Frances McDormand, Tilda Swinton and Jason Schwartzman. I’m especially excited to see Willis’s debut in Anderon’s world. The guy can be really dry and funny when he wants to be (which isn’t very often, apparently). And what’s up with Schwartzman’s greasy mustache? I kind of love it.

There’s nothing like a Wes Anderson film. It’s great to see him back.

MOONRISE KINGDOM opens May 25th. The trailer and synopsis are below. Watch the preview in HD over at Apple.

Set on an island off the coast of New England in the summer of 1965, MOONRISE KINGDOM tells the story of two twelve-year-olds who fall in love, make a secret pact, and run away together into the wilderness. As various authorities try to hunt them down, a violent storm is brewing off-shore — and the peaceful island community is turned upside down in more ways than anyone can handle. Bruce Willis plays the local sheriff. Edward Norton is a Khaki Scout troop leader. Bill Murray and Frances McDormand portray the young girl’s parents. The cast also includes Tilda Swinton, Jason Schwartzman, and Jared Gilman and Kara Hayward as the boy and girl.
