We all know DRIVE is great, and that Baby Goose and Albert Brooks were robbed of Oscar nominations. Well another thing that’s been plaguing this film has been really bad official artwork. With the pink font, cool soundtrack and great lead actor, this film screams for some great artwork to represent it. Look around on the internet and you can find some great Drive artwork over at Signal Noise where you can even download a replacement slip cover for the lame artwork it comes with on the Blu-ray.
So never one to shy away from an opportunity to make a really badass poster, Mondo and the Alamo Drafthouse stepped in to right some of the wrongs associated with some of the artwork this film has seen. They sought out Ken Taylor to create this poster, and anyone familiar with his previous Mondo work (Gremlins, Poltergeist, and my personal favorite The Star Wars Bounty Hunters series here and here) knew they were in for a treat, and he certainly delivered. Without further ado, here is the poster:
Very cool indeed. As usual if you lived in Austin, you might have been able to get into the screening to get one of these beauties, but fear not loyal reader! Word has it that there extras, and that they’ll go on sale on Thursday, so keep an eye on Twitter for Mondo Creative Director Justin Ishmael’s (@mondonews) announcement at a random time.
