Dwayne Johnson In Talks For Brett Ratner’s HERCULES

Given Dwayne Johnson’s career path and physical attributes, it seems he’d be destined to play Hercules. Therefore, this news story isn’t that surprising.

Variety says Johnson is in talks to play the titular character in HERCULES, an action picture that’ll be directed by Brett Ratner. The pic is based on the graphic novel Hercules: The Thracian War by Steve Moore. Moore’s book was a dark take on the character, which makes Ratner’s affiliation kind of surprising. Ratner is best known for light, forgettable fare such as RUSH HOUR or TOWER HEIST. I can’t really see him taking on such epic, bleak material. The script is written by Ryan Condol.

Ratner aside, Johnson is a great move. As I said, the guy was born to play Hercules. It’s as if he’s been training for the part his whole life. And I don’t know about you but it’s a role I’d love to see him take on.

Of course, this isn’t the only tough character Johnson is suiting up to play. He’s got G.I.: RETALIATION this summer and he’s prepping for Michael Bay’s PAIN AND GAIN, a film that is sure to emphasis his intimidating prowess.
