If there’s one thing you must know about us here is that we have a deep and abiding love for all things Studio Ghibli. We couldn’t be more pleased with their partnership with Disney to release their films theatrically in the US. We’ve totally adored all of their collaborations and THE SECRET WORLD OF ARRIETTY looks to be no different.
So escape with us into a world filled with creativity and imagination for just a few minutes right now. It will be the best mental vacation of your day!
Having heard rumors of little people living under the house the works and lives in, Hara (Carol Burnett) finds and captures Arrietty’s mother, Homily (Amy Poehler).
In the second clip, Arrietty (Bridgit Mendler) is trying to convince her father, Pod (Will Arnett), that she’s responsible enough to go out on her first borrowing adventure, despite a new, unknown presence that’s just come to the house.
Arrietty and her father are out on her first borrowing trip. They’ve been tasked by Homily to get sugar and a tissue. This clip shows the fascinating process these little people have to go through to procure their needs.
After she returns from her first borrowing trip, Arrietty has a confession for her father. Her father, being the good dad he is, is quick to assuage her feelings of guilt.
In perhaps one of the most stunningly gorgeous segments of the film, Arrietty shares with Shawn (David Henrie), the human “bean” she’s made friends with, that she and her family now have to move in order to survive. And if we might say so ourselves, the shot at the 20 second mark is a friggin’ masterpiece!
THE SECRET WORLD OF ARRIETY hits theaters on February 17.
