THE DIVIDE
Rating: Rated R for disturbing strong violence and sexuality, and for pervasive language
Studio: Starz/Anchor Bay
MSRP: $29.99, but Amazon has it for $16.99.
Running Time: 112 minutes
What’s Going On?
A group of survivors during a nuclear attack are grouped together in the basement of their apartment building. Time begins to weigh on the group and they must then survive each other.
Who’s In It:
The most recognizable faces are Michael Biehn (Aliens) and Milo Ventimiglia (Rocky Balboa, Heroes)
If You Like…:
Survivalist films. Michael Biehn fans will also appreciate the kind of crazy he can bring to a role like this.
Special Features:
There aren’t any besides a trailer and a commentary, but the commentary features most of the cast and is informative and worth a listen if you like the film.
The Technical Gist
Everything in the film is very dark and gritty with a grey overtone to it. It’s sharp and when it needs to be is a good grade of dim, which is needed for most of the film.
It’s presented in 1.78:1 aspect ratio with audio in Dolby TrueHD 7.1
The Verdict:
It’s something that is worth at least one viewing. It’s a small scale movie that has really good production value despite it’s obvious lack of a huge budget. The performances are great in it, but there’s just not much there that can be gained from a second viewing. QUEUE IT
