Check out that new poser for Oren Peli’s CHERNOBYL DIARIES. Spooky, isn’t it?
It’s actually a fairly strong poster even if the movie itself isn’t blowing us away yet. The first trailer for the found footage flick wasn’t that bad but it felt very similar to earlier films of the genre. It left us asking one question: why does this have to be found footage? Why not a straight-forward narrative? Is it just because Oren Peli found success with the PARANORMAL ACTIVITY franchise?
Maybe Peli has something genius up his sleeve. We’ll know soon, CHERNOBYL DIARIES opens 25.
A synopsis of the film’s plot:
The film follows a group of six young tourists who, looking to go off the beaten path, hire an “extreme tour” guide. Ignoring warnings, he takes them into the city of Pripyat, the former home to the workers of the Chernobyl nuclear reactor, but a deserted town since the disaster more than 25 years ago. After a brief exploration of the abandoned city, however, the group soon finds themselves stranded, only to discover that they are not alone…
