There have been some mixed reactions to William Friedkin’s KILLER JOE. Regardless of the buzz or lack therof, this trailer for the NC-17 thriller is great.
The movie stars Mattew McConaughey as the titular Joe, a cop/assassin-for-hire, who is called upon by a father (Thomas Haden Church) and his son (Emile Hirsch) to murder his wife. But as this trailer proves, things get really hairy. Don’t they always?
While Friedkin has made a few stinkers over the last couple of decades, he’s also turned in some great work (notably BUG starring Ashley Judd). Critics say the finale to KILLER JOE is so outrageous and thrilling that it warrants a viewing. That sort of buzz plus this trailer will definitely raise some eyebrows.
KILLER JOE stars McConaughey, Chuch, Hirsch, Gina Gershon and Juno Temple. The film opens July 27th.
