It’s a slow news day (obviously) but here’s a story worth sharing.
Senator Patrick Leahy (D-Vermont) is a lifelong Batman fan. I like him already. In fact, the lucky senator has appeared in several Batman projects, from BATMAN & ROBIN to the animated series to even a cameo in THE DARK KNIGHT (Leahy told The Joker “We’re not intimidated by you thugs.”) He’s living every Batfan’s dream!
And the good news continues for the respected statesman. The senator’s press secretary confirmed Leahy is returning for a cameo in THE DARK KNIGHT RISES. Deadline says Leahy was invited back and filmed a short scene between Christian Bale and Morgan Freeman. Obviously he won’t give out details on the scene but it’s nice to know the senator was invited back.
Even cooler: the senator’s home state of Vermont will screen the world premiere of THE DARK KNIGHT RISES on July 15, five days ahead of its release date. The same thing happened with THE DARK KNIGHT, the movie screened for a small theater in Vermont days before the rest of the country got to see it. Being a good samaritan, Leahy is making an event out of the premiere and all proceeds will go to the local Kellogg Hubbard Library. I’m guessing they’ll get a few extra copies of Batman comics.
Hats off to you, Senator Leahy. Let’s hope you return for the next Batman film, whatever it may be.Powered by Sidelines
