Who doesn’t love a good Nicolas Sparks sudsy romantic melodrama every now and then? THE NOTEBOOK made the world go nuts for his books and since then, the author has been on a winning streak in Hollywood. His latest, SAFE HAVEN which stars Julianne Hough, Josh Duhamel, and Cobie Smulders looks like it contains all of the Sparks hallmarks audiences adore. And with Lasse Hallström directing, it guarantees my ass will be there opening day. (Side note: AN UNFINISHED LIFE is amazing.)
Here’s the official synopsis:
An affirming and suspenseful story about a young woman’s struggle to love again, Safe Haven is based on the novel from Nicholas Sparks, the best-selling author behind the hit films The Notebook and Dear John. When a mysterious young woman arrives in a small North Carolina town, her reluctance to join the tight knit community raises questions about her past. Slowly, she begins putting down roots, and gains the courage to start a relationship with Alex, a widowed store owner with two young children. But dark secrets intrude on her new life with such terror that she is forced to rediscover the meaning of sacrifice and rely on the power of love in this deeply moving romantic thriller.
With Lissie’s cover of Fleetwood Mac’s “You Can Go Your Own Way” setting the mood, filmmakers have created a breathtaking trailer to what will be the romance film to see when it opens on February 8. Le sigh. Take a look below and share your thoughts.
